Easter Egg Hunt

16 Apr

The thrill of the hunt…EasterEggHuntThey really hide eggs in tough places these days, huh?  I mean… honestly.  Can there be any degree of difficulty to it?  You may think that this was the “little kid egg hunt” and that it was meant to be simple… true.  It’s also true that the 7-8 year old egg hunt looked exactly the same plus a good bit more shoving and jostling.

EasterEggHunt2My favorite part of watching him hunt this year (and I use the word “hunt” very loosely) was the giant smile aimed at me after he picked up each egg.  He was utterly delighted that there was a field full of treat-filled eggs waiting for him to gather up.

EasterEggHuntSpoilsWe had to open the eggs immediately.  Of his 16 eggs nearly 14 contained gum.  Who made that call?  Are there parents out there giving their three year olds (or 2 year olds, since this was the 2-3 hunt) gum?  Are we that curmudgeonly to be denying him the great delight of chewing, likely swallowing and choking on, gum at this age?  Regardless… he was content to trade me at home, 14 pieces of Double Bubble traded for one Dum Dum and a mini bag of Skittles.  That may have been a bit curmudgeonly if I’m being honest, but he was thrilled.

Besides, everything paled in comparison to the time spent upon the giant Bunny’s lap.  Delighted.  Thrilled.  Enraptured.  I, on the other hand, was a little disturbed at the bunny’s apparent nuzzling of his ear.
