Pumpkin Picking

29 Oct

Pumpkins are a major fall attraction around these parts.  On our daily walks, each house with a pumpkin that we pass gets a big announcement “Punkin!” and, if they happen to have multiple, each pumpkin is counted with precision.  It was no surprise that our official pumpkin picking trip was a big hit.

At least, it was a big hit once we got to the actual patch.  There was a hayride to bring us over to the pumpkin patch and it was pulled by a tractor.  And tractors may be more exciting than pumpkins.  He was rather displeased to learn that he had to sit amidst the common folk on the hayride when he was quite sure he would have been driving the tractor.

After agreeing to ride the hayride with the rest of us, he announced “I drive tractor back.”  Thankfully, he was promptly distracted by the pumpkins and forgot about his desires for tractor driving.

All in, a small pumpkin for Lucas and a giant one for the family.  Punkin fun for everyone.
